Post New Cranks?
Ok, i'm looking to lighten my bike, at the mo i have some chunky 3pcs on there. I want something that is lighter but obviously still strong, i've broken about 4 pairs of cranks in the past so im not gunna fit something made of wood and expect it to last. Basically i want a good strength to weight ratio but as light as possible, this will be on the rig so they wont need to quite as strong as they did when i rode hardtail dh. What you reckon i should go for?

Mate u cant go wrong with evolves, eaxctly the same as diablous but lighter and cheaper. The external bb is excellent, cant fault it. Or something like saints.

primo hollowbites

cant fault my powerbites and have put up with my fat arse well enough
failing that, cant go wrong with saints.

the only problem with evolves/diablous/atlas (basically raceface) is they make the cranks in pairs only for as they told me "a more snug fit" so if you bend an axle/damage a spline, your completely fucked in the ass and there goes a couple of hundred out the window.

What's the lightest out of what has been suggested so far (cranks, bb, cups, axle n all).

Do you reckon the primos are lighter with the axle and all cos thats often pretty hefty compaired with an x type bb.

i honestly havnt a clue, but holding my mates saint arms and comparing them to mine theres a massive difference..

either way, cranks dont really matter that much, if you want to lighten your bike, change the wheels, rotational weight is going to feel heavier than static weight.
